ENGLISH-SPANISH BILINGUALISM AND MANDARIN CHINESE
A natural bilingual environment is promoted in the school from the age of two in Nursery and real English immersion is achieved.
The two-year-old pupils have 32,5 teaching hours per week, carrying out 60% of their day in English. From the age of three, 47%.
Our international teaching staff stands out. There are numerous nationalities in the school, giving it a multicultural atmosphere, which prepares the Humanitas Pupils for their future.
ICT – IMATHS
I-maths enhances the knowledge of ICT (interactive whiteboards and iPad) through the development of logical-mathematical skills, in activity corners and small groups.
Through complementary activities using applications on the iPad, Osmo with Tangrams and Numbers, and activities created by our own teachers on the interactive whiteboards, the children’s mathematical skills are enhanced.
MATHEMATICAL PROJECT “Once upon a time there was mathematics…”
As a complement to our maths programme in Nursery & Infants in HBS, we use children’s stories to cover the objectives, concepts and problem-solving skills in the mathematical- logical area using a manipulative and experimental perspective throughout.
ARTISTIC PROJECT
By discovering great artists, we establish art and creativity as basic pillars of our pupils’ education, because the influence art has on children’s emotional, cognitive and physical development is fundamental.
By using this methodology during the stages of Nursery & Infants it encourages us to make our pupils responsible for their learning, their motivation to learn coming from the classroom, stimulating their potential and at the same time encouraging new capabilities.
READING PROGRAMME
Our reading programme is a fundamental aspect of the reading process and story telling. We have a wide range of titles in both languages adapted to all ages, which generates a love of reading and listening to stories in our pupils.
Through the HBS Book Club our five-year-old pupils start the reading process in both languages. By alternating the reading of different texts adapted to their levels on a weekly basis, they can enjoy books in both English and Spanish.
EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
Emotional education is a continuous process that we wish to develop in our pupils throughout their school lives, allowing them to resolve problems related to emotions and feelings. In our programme we consider emotions and feelings such as happiness, sadness, hostility, frustration, desperation, fear, willingness…
One of the project objectives is to train the pupils from Nursery to identify and manage the emotions that will determine their way of life, their identity, their personality and their behavior. This way we offer them a base on which to build their future emotional maturity.
