In the development of logical thinking, we use two programmes in the area of mathematics, one for mental arithmetic and the other for problem solving. With both programmes, we stimulate the pupils’ use of imagination, academic performance, creativity, visual memory, concentration, the ability to observe, and the capacity for analysis and synthesis.
The priority in all year groups is to ensure that each pupil acquires a clear, productive routine during their mathematical learning, centred on the skill of ‘learning to learn’. Starting in 1st grade, pupils learn to manipulate objects and make drawings in order to help them solve problems, while later they learn to reason out problems, both in written or oral form, in order to organise their mathematical thinking.
