COOPERATIVE LEARNING

Through the methodology of cooperative learning, we promote the acquisition of skills, values and social skills, as well as maximizing the potential of teaching space (inside or outside the classroom). It is a learning resource; by learning from both the teacher and peers, it allows students to develop self-confidence in their own abilities and promotes respect and tolerance of other people’s ideas.

Certain strategies of the Cooperative Learning (C.L.) methodology are used in all year groups during certain activities or a specific moment of a lesson, especially in 4th to 6th grades. As the classes from 1st to 3rd grades are also working in activity corners, teachers combine the different methodologies, according to the needs of the students.

In the sessions where the methodology of cooperative learning is used, 4 or 5 roles are selected and distributed to each student. The functions are adapted to the age of the students, increasing the number of functions as appropriate. Also, the classroom rules, norms of behaviour and work methods often have a visible “cooperative character”.

Work in C.L. strives to improve students’ ability, social skills, emotional intelligence, capacity of people management etc. not only their subject knowledge. Teachers, who apply these methods of learning techniques, follow continuous training courses.
